About this Event

Are you a family development worker in the community that supports parents and caregivers with children? Join Andrea Ostroy, Parenting Program Trainer, for a 2 day workshop to explore concepts and skills from the Nurturing Parenting Program, Parenting the Second Time Around, Incredible Years and Conscious Discipline.

Topics include: understanding parent and child brain development, learning to respond with empathy, providing choices, power dynamics, healthy connection and communication, family values and culture, parenting patterns and creating strategies for a calmer home environment.

This class will assist workers in expanding their knowledge in 2 of the Strengthen Family's Protective Factors: Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development and Social and Emotional Competence of Children. Attendees will find meaningful ways to bring what is learned into daily practice.

The workshop is 2 days - October 22 & 29, 9 am to 4 pm. Please plan to attend both days to receive a certificate of completion.

Light breakfast and snacks will be provided, lunch is on your own.

This class is being hosted by Sister Carmen Community Center. Andrea Ostroy, a trained parenting instructor will be facilitating the workshop.
