Looking to make the child in your life feel loved this Valentine's Day?Share the magic of marbling decorative and abstract papers with the child you love, in this easy-to-pick-up introductory workshop.
This single session hands-on class is the perfect way to give your child a "date night" on the eve before Valentine's Day proper.
Whether you are a Daddy-Daughter duo, a Mother-Son match, a Grandparent-Grandchild couple, or Aunt, Uncle, Niece, Nephew, Non-binary, Father-Son, Mother-Daughter ... you are welcome here to celebrate your bond. You'll use Valentine's/Winter themed colors while expressing your creative side, side-by-side.
You and your child will have the opportunity to follow your curiosity as you experience the spontaneous magic of paper marbling, learning how to control fluid paints to make intricate patterns.
Adapted from Whistling Studio's flagship Paper Marbling Experience, this child-and-guardian class is presented in a kid-safe atmosphere for children 5-14, and provides nearly all of the same content in a more direct and easy-to-digest fashion that any kid can enjoy. Both you and your child will be equally astounded at your abilities and tickled by your curiosities as you create images you didn't know you had in you.
You’ll be walked through all the techniques you need to make mesmerizing designs in the wonderful hues of winter: cool tones of blizzards, warm glows of the fireplace, and the buoyant lift of Valentine love.
In this workshop you will:
• Create 10 marbled papers, 12” x 19”, yours to keep.
• Learn 4 (or more) cool patterns fundamental to marbling.
• Explore spontaneity in freestyle marble designs.
• Build on the principles of marbling to create floral imagery.
Why share this experience with a child?
• Marbling seems to bring out the inner child in even the most hardened adults. Let your child meet the most playful you.
• Spontaneity is a lesson for everyone. Marbling cannot be completely controlled, and is partially an exercise in creative reaction. Both you and your child will find yourselves learning how to "go with the flow," together.
• Shared experiences build better bonds.
• Marbling levels the playing-field. Let your child delight in seeing your curiosity light up while you learn new skills that might challenge you.
I dare you to try not to giggle together at the unexpected successes and hilarious harmless failures that can come from making art together.
Garubba has years of experience in teaching art to children. You can trust him to lead with kindness, love, patience, and fun.
1 Ticket to this event reserves a shared marbling station for 1 adult and 1 child, with a full set of tools, and 10 marble-ready sheets of paper.
Additional stations will be made available for adults who have been edged out by their eager children.
All art and marbling materials will be provided for you at the workshop.
All materials are safe when handled properly, but let me know if you have an allergy or sensitivity.
This experience can be messy, please dress appropriately. Aprons will be provided, or wear mess-worthy clothes.
