Parasol Patrol is a nonprofit dedicated to shielding children and young people from hostile protesters at 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC events. Using umbrellas to create a visual barrier, we guide families past harmful messages from groups like Proud Boys, Patriot Front, Blood Tribe, GAG and Westboro Baptist Church. For the youngest, we provide noise-canceling ear protection to block the hateful slurs often yelled through bullhorns. Our mission is to ensure that children can walk through their communities with dignity, protected from the hate that seeks to harm them.
The Westboro Baptist Church is targeting the Colorado State Capitol.
On Thursday, 12/26/2024, at 9:30am The Parasol Patrol will be on the Northwest corner of the Colorado Capitol building to let the Westboro Baptist Church know that their hate is not welcome here in Colorado.
It's crucial for Parasol Patrol volunteers to remember that we are not a counter-protest group. We don’t engage with Westboro and we always maintain at least 10 ft distance from them, as they are extremely litigious.
