Parangal presents Sambuyoga Malna at SF Trolley Dances
Parangal is excited to present the world premiere of Sambuyoga Malna and take part of the 18th San Francisco Trolley Dances presented by Epiphany Dance Theater!
Sambuyoga Malna presented at SF Trolley Dances 2021 is a work in progress, world premiere of its full production, inspired from Kadtumana the last rite or culmination of the ipat, pre-Islamic healing ritual, sending away the spirits back to their dwelling places after 3 or 7 days invitation in the spirit festival ipat.
The main dance program highlights the evolution of Maguindanaon Sagayan from traditional to festive contemporary as part of Sagayan archiving Living Traditions through Alliance of California Traditional Arts

The role of patutunong (shaman) - Eric Solano
and community’s key parts in the event - this piece highlights the Maguindanaon/Muslim identity through attire

Take a ride with Epiphany Dance Theater
for the 18th Annual San Francisco Trolley Dances 2021!
With on-site performances occurring Oct. 15th for Kids on Track students as well as the 16th and 17th for the general public and online on-demand viewing available for the remainder of the year – Epiphany Dance Theater brings you a free film festival of site-specific dance co-curated by Executive Artistic Director Kim Epifano and Managing Director Jes DeVille, featuring a revamped Kids on Track educational program spearheaded by Education & Communications Director Kayla May Paz Suarez.
2021’s iteration spans San Francisco’s East Cut / Rincon Hill and Castro districts, pairing artists and ensembles with specific sites along a historic MUNI route for 6 to 10-minute performances in response to the physical environment, architecture, and history of the city.
