About this Event
Suminagashi is a paper marbling technique originating in Japan. In this beginner friendly course, come learn how to create your own colorful creations. Marbled paper is beautiful as a standalone piece or as a background for further work, and suminagashi is one of the most accessible forms of marbling available to artists as it requires no special bath, just plain old water, ink, and dish soap! With this workshop, you will get to learn the basics of suminagashi and get to experiment with color, complexity, and have plenty of sheets to take home and use as you wish, be it for printmaking, books, or framing all on its own. A materials fee covers sumi ink, paper, tools, and studio maintenance.
Please note: Masking is now encouraged, but optional in the studio space. Individuals who feel uncomfortable using the space with others unmasked, whether for health or any other reason, are welcome to request mask-wearing while using the studio space.
