Coalescence Theatre Project in conjunction with the Sociology/Anthropology Department at the University of Illinois Springfield a one time only performance of PANTHER WOMEN: An Army For The Liberation. This Jeff Award-nominated play by award-winning playwright, India Nicole Burton is directed by Myesha Tiara and will be presented at First Christian Church, 401 West Jefferson St, Bloomington, IL. and featuring Aurora Thorpe, Aneesah Phillips, Jajwanica Johnson, Autumn Nicole, Yaz Hamilton, Chynna Miller, and Katecia Ingram. Felicia Jiardina is the production's stage manager.
PANTHER WOMEN: An Army for the Liberation follows one woman’s journey to self-discovery through the stories of three prominent women who were members of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Movement. This high-energy movement piece with poetry, monologues, dance, and song explores the dilemmas, obstacles, and joy of African American Women, chronicling the lifelong pursuit of justice by some of the founding women of the Civil Rights Movement.
Panther Women: An army for the Liberation will be directed by Jeff Award nominated director Myesha-Tiara, artistic director of Perceptions Theatre who was also nominated for the 2023 Black Excellence Awards by the Black Arts and Cultural Alliance of Chicago.
