The founding of the Black Panther Party in Oakland, CA during the Vietnam era is dramatized (with certain liberties taken) in Mario Van Peebles’ political thriller written by his father, Melvin Van Peebles (Sweet Sweetback). The all-star cast features Kadeem Hardision, Bokeem Woodbine, Courtney B.
