One of the most astonishing and enamoring films to ever come out of Mexico, PAN'S LABYRINTH is a whimsically nightmarish narrative on escapism and the loss of innocence amid real-world harshness that has remained something of pure genius since it came out nearly two decades ago!
In the backdrop of post Spanish Civil War fascism, 10 year old Ophelia moves with her pregnant mother into the controlling world of her cruel stepfather. Finding herself lost in a mysterious labyrinth, she encounters a faun who reveals she may be a lost princess from an underground kingdom. If she hopes to find her real father in this strange world, she must overcome a series of obstacles that begin to blur the lines between fantasy and reality.
