This will be a hybrid event:
Digital Arts Market: 13 - 14 March, 2023
In Person Gathering: 15 - 16 March, 2023
The Performing Arts Network of New Zealand (PANNZ) Arts Market is Aotearoa/New Zealand's premiere event for artists, producers, presenters and industry leaders from across the performing arts sector.
Nau mai, haere mai, as our sector works to overcome tough times, to rebuild and to unify. Join us to strengthen relationships and nurture our community so that we can better advocate for the life force that is our work.
The PANNZ Arts Market 2023 will be a hybrid format - a two-day Digital Arts Market (13 - 14 March), followed by a two-day In Person Gathering (15 - 16 March) held in Auckland alongside Auckland Arts Festival.

HE TINA KI RUNGA, HE TĀMORE KI RARO
In order to flourish above, one must be firmly rooted below
This whakataukī (proverb) will underpin the Arts Market programme, as we come together to ensure that as an industry our root systems endure; that we remain strong together.
Each day of the programme will connect with a different line of the whakataukī, and threaded throughout the market will be opportunities to hear from artists and arts leaders, and participate in discussions on arts, culture and creativity in Aotearoa.
Full details of the programme and our 2023 showcase and pitch artists will be released in February 2023.

THE HYBRID ARTS MARKET
Digital Arts Market: 13 - 14 March, 2023
In Person Gathering: 15 - 16 March, 2023
Artists will present works in live streamed pitch/showcase sessions via our digital platform in the two-day Digital Arts Market (13 & 14 March 2023). Presenters and industry peers can then engage with artists and their works in both real time and on-demand. The Digital Arts Market also includes panel discussions, and opportunities to connect and network.
The two-day In Person Gathering (15 & 16 March 2023) is designed to facilitate networking opportunities, and to host panel discussions which speak to the current performing arts landscape in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
MORE ABOUT THE DIGITAL ARTS MARKET
THE PLATFORM
The two-day Digital Arts Market is hosted on the Arts Front Platform - a software system developed specifically for the arts sector by our Australian partners, Feral Arts.
These first two days of the Arts Market 2023 focus on showcasing the work of Aotearoa/New Zealand's performing artists to local and international presenters.
Since the inception of the Digital Arts Market as a response to COVID-19 in 2021, the format has seen an increase in our international delegates. Going digital has enabled more connection with people around the world, and the formation of many great relationships.
THE CURATED DIGITAL PROGRAMME
We are delighted to once again share such a high calibre selection of pitches and showcases during the two-day Digital Arts Market.
As there are a limited number of presenting opportunities at the Digital Arts Market, we have consulted with a panel of national and international industry representatives to help us select who will pitch and showcase their work. Work is selected through rigorous assessment of the application information provided. The panel looks for work that represents the breadth of the performing arts sector in Aotearoa, bringing collective knowledge, experience and insight to the assessment process.
MORE ABOUT THE IN PERSON GATHERING
The easing of COVID-19 restrictions sees the return of a multi-day in-person event, held in Auckland as part of the PANNZ Arts Market 2023.
The In Person Gathering will feature panel discussions and networking opportunities to allow for further kōrero between artists and presenters, face to face. Delegates are encouraged to attend these invaluable two days of coming together.
No pitches or showcases will occur during the In Person Gathering (these will only be programmed in the Digital Arts Market component as part of the first two days of the Market).
THE IN-PERSON PROGRAMME
The full programme for the In Person Gathering will be released in February 2023.
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME
In partnership with the International Team at Creative New Zealand, PANNZ has supported 9 artists to showcase their work as part of the two-day Digital Arts Market. The Showcases have been selected with the primary purpose of those works/artists exploring future international opportunities.
A number of international presenters and collaborators have been invited to attend the Digital Arts Market. In 2022, over 50 delegates attended from around the world, and in 2023 a similar number of international guests are expected.
The In person international programme will include hosting of guests to ensure meaningful connections are made between pitching and showcasing artists, for either future presentations internationally, or to collaborate or commission and localise work in their territories.
