About the event
Jana Katha Keerthana is a creative reinterpretation that contemporises the traditional Harikatha style. This performance focuses on the life and vision of Kannada's Adi Kavi Pampa. His worldly epic Vikramarjuna Vijaya and spiritual masterpiece Adipurana together reflect the depth of his philosophy. Through Pampa Darshana, the audience will witness a graceful portrayal of Pampa's life, poetry, and vision woven across these two works.
ಜನಕಥಾ ಕೀರ್ತನೆ — ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಹರಿಕಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರವನ್ನು ಸಮಕಾಲೀನಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದ ದೃಷ್ಟಾಂತವೇ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಆದಿಕವಿ ಪಂಪನ ಜೀವನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪಂಪನ ವಿಕ್ರಮಾರ್ಜುನ ವಿಜಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಆದಿಪುರಾಣ ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಆತನ ಜೀವನ, ಕಾವ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಮನೋಜ್ಞವಾಗಿ ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

About the Artist
Dr. Lakshman Das is a versatile artist in the field of Katha Keerthana. This art form blends singing and narration to evoke all nine rasas of art. He was initiated into the tradition by renowned artist R Gururajalu Naidu. Breaking social barriers, he performed the Ambedkar Katha despite opposition. His first full Harikatha was in 1971 at Koratagere (Tumkur district). He has performed in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhopal, and at the AKKA conference (World Kannada Conference) in the USA. Currently, he serves as President of the Akhila Karnataka Keerthana Kala Parishat. In 2016, he was honoured by the Karnataka Nataka Academy.
For this program, the rhythmic resonance of Narendra Kumar on the tabla will blend beautifully with the melodious strains of B. S. Srinivas Murthy on the harmonium, making the evening all the more enchanting.
ಡಾ. ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ದಾಸರು ಕಥಾಕೀರ್ತನೆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಬಹುಮುಖ ಕಲಾವಿದರು. ಅವರು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಕಲಾವಿದ ಆರ್. ಗುರುರಾಜಲು ನಾಯ್ಡು ಅವರಿಂದ ದೀಕ್ಷೆ ಪಡೆದರು. ಸಮಾಜದ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ‘ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಕಥೆ’ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೊಸ ದಾರಿ ತೆರೆದರು.
1971 ರಲ್ಲಿ ತುಮಕೂರು ಕೊರಟಗೆರೆಯ ಸತ್ಯ ಗಣಪತಿ ಆಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲ ಹರಿಕಥೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮದ್ರಾಸ್, ಹೈದರಾಬಾದ್, ಮುಂಬಯಿ, ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತ, ಭೋಪಾಲ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಅಕ್ಕ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಕಥೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸದ್ಯ ‘ಅಖಿಲ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕೀರ್ತನಾ ಕಲಾ ಪರಿಷತ್’ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 2016 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ನಾಟಕ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಗೌರವ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಬಲಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ಲಯಬದ್ಧ ಸ್ಪಂದನೆ ಸೇರಿ, ಹಾರ್ಮೋನಿಯಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ.ಎಸ್. ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರ ಮಧುರ ಸ್ವರಗಳು ಮೇಳೈಸಲಿವೆ. ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸಂಜೆಯು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಮನಮೋಹಕವಾಗಲಿದೆ.
