Overview
The Florida First Detector Program teaches on topics of invasive species and early detection. In this workshop, hosted in collaboration with UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County, we will focus on a few invasive pests of concern to Florida's agriculture and natural areas, some of which have been in the news recently.
By popular demand, this workshop will focus on palms , palm management and some invasive species that can impact our palms here in Florida. Participants will also learn how to how invasive species arrive in Florida and how they can use the distance diagnostic identification service (DDIS) and other sample submission techniques to report suspect invasive species.
What is the cost?
The cost for attendance is $25. Registration in advanced is required as spots are limited. Registration will close on June 12th at 4:00PM. The cost for attendance includes lunch and refreshments.
Where?
This event will be held in person at the UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County Office (250 W County Home Rd, Sanford, FL 32773) auditorium. Please be prepared to arrive at least 15 minutes early to the class to ensure you can get signed in.
What about CEUS?
Pesticide CEUs are available to those that hold an FDACS pesticide license. To receive CEU credit, you must attend the full duration of the class and participate. Attendance and participation will be verified.
Up to 6 CEUs are available for the class!
