About Palm Wine Sessions
Palm Wine Sessions is a monthly music mix curated by DJ Moteef that was inspired by her travels in Ghana and Nigeria. Reminiscent of feelings of “home”, groove sessions and sipping on palm wine with loved ones, the sessions pay homage to the vastness and beauty of Black sound across the global diaspora. Its musical influence touches just about every corner of the world and every genre. These sessions will bring listeners flips/edits of classics, sounds from the continent, and forgotten gems.
Palm wine also has deep roots, medicinal benefits and significance in the culture and traditions of communities across the globe - celebrating life and the human experience. It represents festivity, tradition, hospitality and community, and plays an essential role in many celebrations, rituals and gatherings. It is used as a tool for interconnectedness and healing, which resonates deeply with Moteef’s purpose in pursuing music.
