A popular event with residents and tourists alike for more than a quarter century, Palm Desert’s free Concerts in the Park series is scheduled to return in October following a pandemic related break. Held every Thursday in October from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park amphitheater, the concerts offer a delightful evening of music by some of the top acts from across the region.
Starting the season on October 7 is Beach St. A GoGo, offering a great mix of tunes in tribute to all the groovy sounds of the 60s. You might hear some of The Beatles or The Beach Boys, plus Motown and even a few one-hit wonders.
Other concert series performers include homegrown favorite Avenida Music, playing their unique takes on classic rock, Spanish pop and Top 40 on October 14. On October 21, Cash, The Killer and The King take to the stage with a red-hot rock 'n' roll tribute to the Sun Records era music of Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley. Wrapping up the season on October 28 is New Sensations, a fun party band that plays it all from rock and pop to funk, soul, Motown, and more.
While the music is the main draw, you can round out your evening by enjoying your dinner in the park, too. Food and beverage trucks will be available each week offering a variety of culinary offerings. Concertgoers may also bring picnic baskets along with blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the shows. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited at Civic Center Park, however.
Palm Desert Civic Center Park is located on the northeast corner of San Pablo Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. For more information on attending the Concert in the Park series, call Palm Desert Visitor Services at 760-568-1441.
