No foolin’…you can do this. Recommended for the student with some basic knowledge and experience with watercolor materials and techniques…any level of figure drawing experience will work…this will not be a portrait but a stylized and simplified human figure. We will begin by studying the work of several contemporary watercolorists (e.g. John Yardley, Hazel Soan, etc.), and then, using a photo of your own, or a painting by one of these artists, you will do a black & white sketch/plan and a watercolor based on that. Special emphasis will be on a value plan, simplifying detail, believable perspective and space, dramatic lighting, and form. A supply list will be provided upon registration and supplies are not included in the cost of the workshop.
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stairs, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes
