Painting Party - Fundraiser for Mountain Vista HS Academic Decathlon @PROST

Join us at Prost Brewery in Highlands Ranch for a painting party for a REALLY GREAT CAUSE.

100% of your ticket will help the Mountain Vista High School Academic Decathlon (AcDec) team go to Nationals in April. (Note: Eventbrite will add a fee)

Event Details:

Prost Brewery has generously donated space for us AND 20% of all Prost sales from 11 - 3pm - April 19, 2024. Mention Mountain Vista AcDec! Please support Prost Brewery by purchasing a beverage or two and a snack or meal. (thank you Prost!)

We will paint SOMETHING FUN (I will pick something soon!) OR Choose your own adventure! We will provide all you need to make this painting including an apron, paint, brushes, canvas in a fun creative atmosphere. PLUS: instruction on how to make a painting and tips to make it your own. You bring your enthusiasm and excitement to paint and support a great cause.

Instruction will begin promptly at 11:30. Plan to arrive by 11am to order your beverage and/or food, pick your spot, get settled and ready to paint! We will be painting outside.

We have enough space for 20 in class.

More About AcDec:

Academic Decathlon is a prestigious and all accepting academic competition made up of students of all GPA levels. Mountain Vista’s team is relatively new (3 years and counting) and therefore is in need of community and financial support to continue to grow. Our program requires materials, including USAD packets and testing materials. Additionally, competitions often require food, travel, and lodging for the students and their families who are 100% responsible for funding. All AcDec team members put in hundreds of hours a year reading, studying, testing, preparing for speeches and interviews, and writing essays. As coaches, we would like to value their time and show our appreciation by providing as much financial support as possible.

Mountain Vista Academic Decathlon team members read thousands of pages of information, attend weekly study sessions, and compete against other schools in Colorado throughout the summer and school year to prepare for our state competition that occurs every March for a chance to attend the USAD National competition. This year, our top nine students in our MVHS Academic Decathlon team won their state competition and earned the opportunity to represent the state of Colorado at the national competition! This is truly an amazing accomplishment!

On April 25th through April 28th, we have the opportunity to attend and compete at the Academic Decathlon National Competition in Pittsburg, PA! While at the conference, we will compete in 10 competitions including essay, interview, speech, art, music, literature, math, science, economics, and social science. In addition to competing, we will have the opportunity to earn scholarships, meet professionals, and network with other students from across the country. Engaging in all of these experiences will further develop leadership skills and improve future academic opportunities.

Your donation will serve multiple purposes. A portion of your donation will subsidize our competitors’ travel expenses and registration fees for this year’s Academic Decathlon National Competition. The rest will be allocated for future materials, competitions, and travel expenses.

The past three years have shown the exceptional nature of Mountain Vista’s AcDec students. We have qualified for nationals in our first years as a team, and though we are off to a great start, our team members and coaches hope MVHS AcDec becomes one of the best teams in the country.
