Painting in the Park: Plein Air Landscape

Explore the beauty of outdoor painting in week one of our new series with our “Plein Air” Landscape Painting Project at Sandhill Community Garden. Participants will capture a simplified park vista or mountain landscape while learning how to distinguish background from foreground to create depth and perspective. This introductory session also focuses on basic color mixing techniques, helping artists blend and layer colors inspired by nature. Surrounded by the garden’s scenic setting, participants will build foundational painting skills while developing observation and creative expression in the open air.
This new series of beginner acrylic painting lessons is open to participants 7 years and older. All participants paint the same subject with room for personal style and variation. Subject changes each week with varying painting techniques taught.
The event will be held at Sandhill Community Garden in Buncombe County Sports Park.
$10 registration is required.
