In June of 1969, the Stonewall Uprising sparked the modern American LGBTQ+ rights movement and became a defining moment in American queer history. Many of those involved were drag queens, trans women, and gender-nonconforming people who faced multiple forms of discrimination and chose to stand up against injustice. Activists and drag performers such as Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera would go on to play important roles in the growing American LGBTQ+ rights movement.
Today, drag remains a powerful celebration of identity, creativity, visibility, and community internationally. Our Drag Make-Up Master Class honors this legacy by bringing people together to learn about this art form.
Join us for our Drag Make-Up Master Class with German-American drag queen Alpine Ski. In this live demonstration, Alpine Ski will transform a model in front of the audience while explaining techniques, products, and her creative process. This event is for everyone, no matter if you have always wanted to learn about drag makeup or are simply interested in learning about drag as an artform. Beyond makeup, the evening is about creativity, self-expression, and celebration of queer expression.
