About this Event

Join us for a creative, hands-on workshop led by artist James S. Terrell. Inspired by the symbolism and storytelling power of masks, participants will design and paint their own expressive mask artwork on canvas. Inspired by the work of David Driskell and Lois Mailou Jones, James S. Terrell will walk participants through the process of creating African-inspired masks. Using acrylic paints, brushes, paint pens, and construction paper, families and visitors of all ages will explore color, texture, and personal symbolism as they create a bold mask design that reflects identity, imagination, or cultural inspiration. Mr. Terrell will guide participants through the process and share tips for bringing their own mask designs to life. All materials are provided. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity!
