Paint & Sip For Resistance: A Mural Paint Day Led By Mural Arts
About this Event
Grab a brush. Make your mark.
Our community is coming together to turn a blank wall into a powerful symbol of strength, unity, and hope. This community mural paint workshop is inspired by this month’s theme of rising above challenges and resisting injustice.
In this workshop led by muralists Eric Okdeh and Cody Stuhltrager we will celebrate the artistry that began with people behind the walls at SCI Phoenix and will conclude with us contributing to the project!
The evening will begin with a word from the muralists followed by a few testimonies from the artists still currently incarcerated. We’ll learn of the impact of art programs in prisons and of different pathways to partner with artists on the inside. Finally, you will have the opportunity to paint a few panels that will all be installed at a later date!
Art is our collective voice. Whether you are an experienced artist or have never picked up a paintbrush before, your hands will help shape this lasting monument to our shared resilience.
Light refreshments will be provided!
A percent of proceeds will support the Fitler Foundation!
Location: Level 2 Terrace, Fitler Club
