About this Event
Join us for Painless Papercuts!
Mary Whale will show us how to create a papercut that includes drawable letters, for example italic, art deco, cursive hands, as part of an overall design which focuses on positive and negative spaces.
Supplies
Cutting tool: a round-barrelled knife handle with size 11 blade
Self healing cutting mat
9 x 12 inch tracing paper (or select your own size paper)
Paper for cutting: weight/thickness between 30 and 90 pounds is ideal
Mary will bring some samples of Tyvek for participants to try instead of paper
Here is Mary's favourite inspirational mentor, Beatrice Coron: https://www.beatricecoron.com/
Class outline
Mary will review the cutting tool and blade control and bring some samples and designs to get participants started. We will start by drawing a word and design on tracing paper, and then transfer them to the paper we will be cutting. You may want to think of some ideas before you come to class.
Don't forget to bring your water bottle and lunch to the session!
Parking:
There is free parking on some streets nearby and a couple of parking lots a block away. The lot kitty-corner and half a block East of the YWCA is about $3.25 for the day. Here is a useful link to the Edmonton Parking Guide:
