Striving for perfection proves harrowing when a young and talented ballerina (Natalie Portman) is next in line to be principal dancer in the company production of Swan Lake. In her pursuit of the lead, she meets her competition (Mila Kunis), who is her reflection in almost every way—with the exception of her inhibitions.

It’s the perfect time to watch this dark masterpiece and lean further into the horror of the season. Darren Aronovsky sets a relentless pace, and presents the effort, sweat, grime and pain of these artistic athletes and their determination through mirrors and metaphor.
