Padma Viswanathan is a novelist and translator whose novels have been shortlisted for the PEN USA Prize, the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and others. She is Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Arkansas—Fayetteville, where she is Founding Director of the Arkansas International Writer-at-Risk Residency Program.

Padma Viswanathan is in Milwaukee as part of the American Literary Translators Association conference, she is the translator of several works of fiction and nonfiction.
