Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness /Action Month with Pink Phoenix, the first BC survivor dragon boat team in the US. Exercise is medicine! Try dragon boat paddling to discover if this full-body workout is for you. You’ll meet and paddle with Pink Phoenix members who found strength and joy through this outdoor sport. It is our pleasure to host you. Paddling 101 is a free outreach event.
Pre-registration required. Contact [email protected] to save your seat on Oct 24 and/or 31.
WHEN?
Come to one or all of our Saturday sessions in October, 8:00 - 9:30. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for check in.
WHERE?
Meet at the flagpole in front of the RiverPlace Marina and RiverPlace Hotel (1510 S Harbor Way) for warmups and instructions at 8am before going down on the dock.
HOW?
~We’ll provide the paddle, life jacket and coaching.
~You wear workout gear like you’d wear to the gym with shoes or sandals you won’t mind getting wet. Choose tech fabric rather than cotton, if possible.
~Contact Nan at [email protected] to register.
~Sign our digital waiver forms.
~Plan time for parking and wayfinding. There is a fee for parking downtown on Saturday mornings - do you have the Parking Kitty app?
~Eat a little something for breakfast - your body needs fuel (30g of carbs) - and bring a water bottle.
WHY?
~Because you can! You’ll get bragging rights with family and friends for trying something new, too.
~Leave your problems on the dock for an engaging hour of laughing, learning, and paddling (and likely some splashing).
