PaddleFest with Ohana Paddle Club

• Rental board, PDF (personal flotation device, life jacket), leash, and paddle from Sea Trek or Venture Wild inflatables OR

• Launch of your own board from Sea Trek's dock
• Participation in up to three activities of your choice (see below) led by experienced American Canoe Association-certified paddleboard instructors
• Festive outdoor after-party with live music, food for purchase
• Demo of Venture Wild inflatable paddleboards guided by Venture Wild owner Mark O'Connor

• Beginning Strokes Clinic: No experience required. Ohana Paddle Club instructors will teach you the very basics so that you can get on the water safely and get started paddling! This session will start with an overview on land and then we will go on the water.
• Level Up Your Paddling Clinic: Basic experience required. Mike Wang, the original Ohana Paddle Club ringleader and coach will find ways to help any paddler advance their skills. You might learn about improving your stability on the water, making turns in a variety of ways, or getting ready to downwind SUP or SUP surf!
• Yoga and Meditation on the Water: Basic experience required to paddle from the dock to the lagoon area, about a third of a mile. Our certified meditation teacher, psychologist, and paddler Heidi, and yoga instructor and paddler Johanna will take you on a peaceful and refreshing journey! 30 min of yoga for all levels and a 15 min heart opening, stress reducing meditation. You will be on a stable paddleboard anchored in our peaceful lagoon for this activity.
• Planning a Paddle Trip on the Bay: This activity will be on land only. Ohana Paddle Club members will guide you through what you need to know to plan a paddle trip on the San Francisco Bay. Topics will include tides, currents, wind, local recommendations.

• Ballena Bay Tour for Beginners: Ohana Paddle Club members will guide you around the local lagoon and marina. The water will be flat with moderate wind. You may see birds and seals and you can practice your skills.
• Ballena Bay Tour for Intermediate and Advanced Paddlers: Ohana Paddle Club members will guide you through the marina and out around Ballena Island. Once we are outside the marina, there may be more wind and chop. The distance is at least 1.8 miles and can be lengthened as the group decides.

• Sign an American Canoe Association (ACA) waiver before purchasing your tickets.
• Registration will begin at 8 am. Allow time to get your board, paddle, and pfd assigned and set up on a crowded dock by the activity start time. Be fully ready to get on the water at the time your activities start.
• We cannot guarantee that we can accommodate late arrivals for the activities. Please be ready to get on the water at the specified start time.
• Arrive extra early if you need to inflate your own board. Be ready to get on the water at the activity start time.
• Anticipate falling in and getting wet! It's a water sport. That's part of the fun!
• All paddlers MUST wear a PFD and be attached to their board with a leash at all times.
• Kids must be big enough to paddle an adult board and be accompanied by an adult on a separate board. If you have younger kids you want to get on the water with, check out Gaia Guides.

• Quick dry materials
• Wetsuit/neoprene if you have and you prefer. Sea Trek may have Farmer John/Jane-style wetsuits to lend. If you are interested, please send us a message at [email protected].
• Many of our paddlers wear lycra workout gear like tights, bike shorts, shorts with or without wetsuits. It's not usually warm enough to paddle in just a swimsuit. Email us if you have questions: [email protected].
• Something comfy to wear to the after-party!

• Water shoes OR

• Go barefoot

• Sunglasses with retention strap (you can buy strap at Sea Trek)
• Sunblock
• Snack
