Paddle For Pride
About this Event
A unique opportunity to get around the city – by canoe! The Birmingham Canal Old Line will become A Floating Pride fest on Saturday 26th July. The session is free to attend and your craft awaits at Cambrian Wharf. You will recieve a full safety Briefing, Instruction and of course a Buoyancy aid and paddle. Wear clothes you dont mind getting wet and bring a change of clothing. No High heels its a flats only day .
Whether you’ve paddled before or are completely new to the water, whether you’re LGBTQ+ or an ally, this is an event for everyone. Flags, face paint and rainbow T-shirts are encouraged. Explore our Canals have some fun and enjoy the day. There will be four sessions. Two in the morning and two in the afternoon.Whilst you wait to experience the canal in this unique way, learn about Canal and River Trust and how we support Our LGBTQ+ employees and volunteers, how we care for the waterways the history of the Canals that helped make this City and how you too can get involved in helping care for this unique environment. The Canal and River Trust's Heritage Narrowboat will also be traveling the canal with musicians from the CBSO. Feel free to walk up to the roundhouse and check it out too.The nearest Parking is at the Utilita Arena Car Park on King Edwards Road
