“A Valentine’s Latin Funk Night”, February 14th, 8pm showtime, 7pm doors, 7:15 dance class, The Mint (1414 Douglas St), Victoria, BC.We're here again for a very special date! Get ready to enjoy all-time funk, soul, r&b and reggae hits in a Cuban and Latin style by The Westcoast Cuban Orchestra. This band will bring you another world-class show with a fusion of genres rarely seen here. Latin Funk Night represents a concept that has no limits on its creative spectrum, as the purpose is to reinvent the musical legacy of legends like Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Etta James, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, the Beatles and more.
If you enjoy listening to music with an interesting and unexpected sound, this event is for you. We will bring you classic melodies from funk, soul, and other genres enriched and refreshed with exotic rhythms like salsa, bachata, and merengue. All performed by artists with solid musical preparation, diverse backgrounds and spectacular improvisational skills adding Jazz, blues, and other influences to the performance, creating the totally unique sound of this band.
This time we'll feature five outstanding vocalists, Leif Bradshaw, Lauren Marshall, Rebecca Mason, Olivia Olavvca, and Alexana Alambarrio.
All songs will be suitable for partner dancing so Latin dance fans come join us! If you need some encouragement in a very fun way to try some steps, a dance instructor will be teaching a class and making a dance performance as well.
