Get ready for a vibrant journey through the heart of global rhythms! Afro-Latin music is celebrated worldwide for its unparalleled beauty, deep spiritual connection, and an unstoppable, passionate energy that moves the soul. Honouring this endless cultural richness, world-class Cuban pianist Pablo Cardenas and The West Coast Cuban Orchestra are coming together to ignite the stage. Prepare yourself for an explosive showcase packed with an incredible variety of hypnotic Afro-Latin grooves, including son, salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue, cha-cha, plena, festejo, rumba, conga, and more!
They want to show you a lot of what Latin music can offer by getting you on a journey through the music of different countries like Cuba, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and more. Pablo will be joined once again by “The West Coast Cuban Orchestra”, an all stars lineup of musicians from all over the world and guest vocalists.
Since every song is suited for partner dancing, we invite all Latin dance fans to join us. If you need a little encouragement to try some new steps, prepare to move with an electrifying dance class by the phenomenal Tatiana Hassan from Colombia, who will also treat the audience to a breathtaking dance performance during the intermission. This will be an event not to miss!
(About the band)
The West Coast Cuban Orchestra was created in 2011 by the internationally renowned Cuban pianist Pablo Cardenas. On a trip to Vancouver Island for a performance, he unexpectedly met a few musicians who motivated him to start a band and stay longer; it became one of his major musical projects. His purpose was to keep the Cuban music roots alive in North America while adding the influence of other musical tendencies like jazz fusion and world music. He also wanted an eclectic lineup with different cultural backgrounds to enrich the sound of the project.
