P-22 Day Festival: Friends of Griffith Park's Wildfire Recovery Hike
Schedule

Location
Griffith Park | Los Angeles, CA
About this Event
Hey cougar fans! The annual P-22 Day Festival celebration is taking place on October 23rd, 2021. This year our festival will be a hybrid; join us online via our P-22’s Wildlife Wonderland platform, as well as in-person at Griffith Park—with limited capacity programs occurring throughout the day.
About this program
Native habitat next to the P-22 Day Festival location burned intensely on May 8th, 2007. Look at it now on a one-mile round-trip hike! The 30-minute tour will feature several stops to show the ways trees and flora are adapted for quick return. The risks of repeated fires will be discussed, along with the risks of prolonged periods without fires. This will be casual and interactive with a small group. Moderate terrain, but one set of stairs.
About the presenter
Gerry Hans, President of Friends of Griffith Park (FoGP), has a 35-year appreciation for Griffith Park and was a founding member of the organization. He’s been active with the various scientific surveys and studies sponsored by FoGP, including the Rare Plant Survey and the Raptor Study.
This program is limited to 25 participants. Patrons attending this program must be fully vaccinated, and children who are not eligible for vaccinations will be required to wear masks. This event will comply with Los Angeles County public health guidelines for COVID-19, which are subject to change.
