The Village Environmental and Waterways Committees are kicking off a fun and eco-friendly project to boost oyster habitats in Village waterways—and they need your help! Come help create Vertical Oyster Gardens (VOGs) to be hung in the Earman River at Anchorage Park and from residential docks. Volunteers will string together oyster shells to form new habitats, and that will encourage new oyster gardens to grow into thriving colonies.
Why oysters? They’re nature’s water filters, removing pollutants and improving water quality while supporting a healthier ecosystem.
Let’s work together to support these two important Village committees in making our waterways cleaner and more vibrant. It’s a meaningful way to connect with neighbors and the environment, so join us at the gazebo Saturday, February 15 at 10 a.m. and help make a difference!
