Everything is FREE today except your lunch!

Our first visit on May 3 will be to Colorblends - House and Gardens at 893 Clinton Avenue, Bridgeport, at 10 am. For more information on this special house and gardens, scroll to the bottom of this message.

Then it's a short drive (8 miles, 946 Ferry Blvd, Stratford) for lunch at the Riverview Bistro which overlooks the Housatonic River. If the weather cooperates, we will be able to use their charming seasonal patio to enjoy their picturesque views.
It's a five minute trip to our second stop of the day at the National Helicopter museum, which is located in the east bound railroad station in Strafford (2480 Main Street). The museum features a photo essay about helicopter development, a chronicle of helicopter pioneers, including Igor Sikorski, multiple helicopter models, a T53 gas turbine engine developed in Stratford, and a computer flight simulator. The center piece of the museum is a full size cockpit you can pop into. This is a PRIVATE TOUR just for the OWLs as they usually open after Memorial Day!

If anyone has any energy left the Stratford Antiques Center (400 Honeyspot Rd) is a short ride (1.4 miles) from the museum. It is a 16,500 sq. ft. multi-dealer shop offering a fine collection of antiques and collectibles.
RSVP by April 29 at the latest to let us know you are coming!! Also, let us know if you can be a designated driver.
For those needing to carpool, we will meet that morningiat First Congregational Church, Cheshire’s parking lot at 8:45 am to leave at 9 am.

Colorblends House and Gardens
The colonial revival house was built in 1903 for Albert S. Wells, the general superintendent of the Bridgeport Malleable Iron Company. It is set among other beautiful houses in the Stratfield historic district in Bridgeport. The house is currently hosting an art gallery which we can view.
The Spring garden is located on the south side of the house and occupies about four-tenths of an acre. Unlike many large display gardens, it is of a scale that anyone can relate to.
Over 123,000 bulbs were planted from 2014 to the present. These plantings, the handiwork of Dutch designer Jacqueline van der Kloet in collaboration with COLORBLENDS, are designed to show what is possible with bulbs.
The garden also shows how you can attract birds, bees and other wildlife to your yard. Aging trees which provide habitat for many birds and small animals have been spared.
