This is your chance to meet four owls up close enough to challenge them to a staring contest! Our ambassador great horned owl, barred owl, eastern screech owl, and barn owl will be joining the Walker Nature Center for the annual Owl Prowl. You’ll learn all about these fascinating owls that are resident in our communities year-round, the challenges they face, and what we can all do to help them thrive right in our own backyards. And you can join a naturalist from the center on a twilight walk through the woodlands to find owls in the wild.
These events are always exciting because you never know what will happen. Once, when our barred owl, Scarlett, responded to a call we played, all the owls in the woods called back – probably curious about a strange hoot in their neighborhood. At another event, a resident barred owl swooped down at us and remained in a nearby tree watching disapprovingly. Who knows whooo might visit this year?
