Owen Howes is a skilled and devoted songwriter. He works hard to find hope inside of heartbreak, a ribbon of shade at high noon, an eddy of thought to drift on. He was a recent finalist in the Maine Songwriters Association’s contest and received an honorable mention from American Songwriter in the spring of 2023 for his song “Silver Spruce.” This winter, he began bringing fresh tunes to an excellent group of musicians: Elliot Boyd on drums, Johnny Burgess on bass, and Jack Carroll on electric guitar. Together, they have created a bluesy folk sound with a smoldering rhythm section, impactful lyrics, and high-flying guitar parts.
