Spring into the Season with a tree or shrub! To qualify for a free tree, you must be a property owner in the Owen Brown Association and agree to install the tree on your OB property, soon-after taking possession. Trees should be picked up May 2nd at the Owen Brown Community Center

Red Osier Dogwood-Red osier dogwood is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub native to much of North America, valued for its striking red winter stems, white flowers, and wildlife-supporting berries throughout multiple seasons. This deciduous shrub known for its striking, bright red stems that provide vivid color in the winter landscape. This shrub thrives in moist, well-drained soils and is highly adaptable, tolerating wet soils and partial shade, making it ideal for planting along streams, ponds, and in wetland areas.
American Beautyberry – American beautyberry is a deciduous, fast-growing native shrub prized for its vibrant purple berries, ornamental value, and wildlife-friendly features. Beautyberry shrubs thrive in full sun to partial shade and prefer moist soil, although they can handle drier conditions. While beautyberries are primarily a food source for wildlife, they are also edible for humans, especially when made into jelly.
Buttonbush- Buttonbush is a versatile, native North American wetland shrub known for its distinctive spherical flowers and value to wildlife and pollinators. Buttonbush is a fast grower characterized by its round, white, spiky flowers and fragrant aroma. Buttonbush grows best in wetlands or near rivers and is often used to prevent erosion. The shrub requires full sun but may tolerate some shade. Otherwise, buttonbush is extremely resilient in all types of temperatures and conditions.
Arrowood viburnum- Arrowwood viburnum is a versatile, native North American shrub valued for its seasonal beauty, wildlife support, and ease of care, making it an excellent choice for gardens and natural landscapes. Also called southern arrowwood, it is a compact flowering shrub characterized by its upright, rounded form and glossy, toothed leaves. It displays attractive white flowers and produces blue-black fruits. This shrub grows best in temperate climates, thriving in full or partial sunlight and favoring moist, well-drained, acidic soil.
Pickup is Saturday May 2nd from 9am-Noon at the Owen Brown Community center.
