Overwintering Monarch Field Trip
Advertisement
Join us for a day out in the field with western monarch specialists Jessica Griffiths and Charis van de Heide! Take a guided field trip to explore western monarch overwintering habitat and their upcoming monarch radio-tagging efforts at a known overwintering site. While there, we will discuss monarch ecology, overwintering behavior, habitat conservation, and current research techniques used to monitor and track monarch populations.
Your ticket directly supports western monarch butterfly conservation through tagging, migration tracking, and habitat monitoring. We will email the field trip location closer to the field trip day, but it will be within a reasonable distance of the Annual Wildlife Symposium. Carpooling is encouraged.
Jessica Griffiths and Charis van de Heide are experienced Wildlife Biologists. They serve as the Monarch Overwintering Count Regional Coordinators in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties with The Xerces Society's Western Monarch Count. They also co-teach the Western Section's Western Monarch Overwintering Ecology and Habitat workshop.
