Overland Park Urban Landscape

Our KC Urban Sketchers Group will fan out for our July 18th Sketch Out in roughly a several block area just east of Historic Overland Park and 1 block southeast of the Overland Park Marketplace at the intersection of Marty Street and West 80th Street. Down the street from Marty to the East is the Historic Rio Theatre—a true delight to sketch! Across the street from the Rio in the center of the large building is the location we will start the Sketch Out @ 9 am with a 15 min. demo put on by Jeff Nisley. It will take place inside a place of business called Hawaii Fluid Art. Jeff’s demo is titled “Improvise Your Skies” where he will introduce the “Magical” properties of watercolor in general—in order to paint simple effective skies for urban sketches. Parking is quite limited Sat. mornings so please arrive early to get your parking spot and to plan out your sketching site. Good News! the Overland Park Marketplace’s renovation has recently been completed! (Please note that Google Maps wasn’t updated so it shows a former business at this address.)
