About this Event

Overcome Imposter Syndrome
Guided Group Hypnosis in Downtown Toronto (to join virtually, please refer to the FAQ)

A guided group hypnosis session designed to help you stop interpreting uncertainty as incompetence, become more comfortable being seen, and trust that you have earned your place.

You may be capable, educated, experienced, and respected—yet still feel as though other people have overestimated you.

You worry that you are less knowledgeable than your colleagues. You hesitate before speaking because someone else might know more. Praise feels undeserved, while criticism feels like confirmation. Every new responsibility seems to expose the possibility that you were never qualified in the first place.

This experience is often called imposter syndrome.

The difficulty is not always a lack of ability. It is often a distorted standard of proof. You expect yourself to feel certain, know everything, make few mistakes, and perform without visible effort before you are willing to regard yourself as legitimate.

This session uses hypnosis to help you develop a more accurate and self-respecting interpretation of your competence, your uncertainty, and your right to participate.

This session may be especially helpful if you:

  • Feel less capable than other people seem
  • Discount praise, promotions, qualifications, or previous success
  • Worry that others will eventually discover you are not good enough
  • Avoid speaking up unless you are completely certain
  • Overprepare because ordinary preparation never feels sufficient
  • Compare your internal uncertainty with other people’s external confidence
  • Feel uncomfortable being visible, praised, promoted, or given authority
  • Attribute your success to luck while attributing mistakes to personal inadequacy
  • Believe you must prove yourself repeatedly before you can relax

What to Expect

The session begins with a brief introduction to the evening’s theme. Participants may suggest situations they would like addressed, such as starting a new role, speaking in meetings, leadership, graduate school, entrepreneurship, creative work, professional visibility, or receiving recognition.

You will then be guided through a shared hypnosis experience centred on ideas such as:

  • Uncertainty does not mean that you are unqualified.
  • You do not have to know everything to know something valuable.
  • Competent people can ask questions, make mistakes, and continue learning.
  • Your internal hesitation is not visible evidence of inadequacy.
  • Other people’s confidence does not prove that they are more capable than you.
  • You can accept praise without immediately arguing against it.
  • You were invited, hired, admitted, promoted, or trusted for reasons that deserve to be taken seriously.
  • Your value does not disappear when someone else is more experienced in one area.
  • You are allowed to occupy space before you feel completely ready.

Depending on the needs of the group, the session may also address perfectionism, comparison, fear of judgment, overpreparation, difficulty receiving feedback, discomfort with authority, or the pressure to appear effortlessly competent.

The exact content varies slightly from one session to another, while the central purpose remains the same: helping you evaluate yourself by fairer and more realistic standards.

A More Accurate Definition of Confidence

Confidence does not mean believing that you are the most capable person in every room.

It means trusting that you can contribute without knowing everything, recover from mistakes, learn what you do not yet know, and remain worthy of respect throughout the process.

You do not need to eliminate every doubt before you speak, apply, lead, publish, present, or accept an opportunity.

The aim of this session is not to replace humility with grandiosity. It is to replace chronic self-disqualification with proportionate self-trust.

Who Can Attend?

No previous experience with hypnosis is required. You may participate quietly, and you will not be required to disclose your career history, achievements, or insecurities to the group.

Each session stands on its own. You are welcome to attend once or return regularly to reinforce the ideas and apply them to different professional or personal situations.

This event may be especially relevant to professionals, students, founders, leaders, creatives, academics, and anyone adjusting to greater responsibility or visibility.

Why Morpheus?

Morpheus founder Luke Chao once experienced severe public-speaking anxiety himself. During a school presentation, his hands shook so intensely that he could barely read his cue cards.

Today, public speaking is a regular and enjoyable part of his professional life. That experience helped shape the clinic’s practical approach: public-speaking confidence is not simply a personality trait that some people possess and others lack. It is a learnable mental and behavioural pattern.
