Outing to Rouken Glen Park

Rouken Glen is one of the most interesting and beautiful parks in the Glasgow area. Our circular walk starts at the Pavillion Visitor Centre, where we can look at the explanatory material about the park. The park has an impressive range of both native and non-native trees including giant redwoods and douglas firs. Some of the more notable plants are the early purple orchid and the orange hawkbit. The area around the gorge of the Auldhouse Burn is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its being one of the best examples of orchard bed sandstone.

We will meet at Rouken Glen Garden Centre, Rouken Glen Road, Glasgow, G46 7JL. Children must be accompanied by an adult; bring binoculars, and wear suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear; livestock may be present, so no dogs allowed except assistance dogs. The centre is accessible by public transport and has parking nearby.
