**Outer Reaches 2024 presents****Negativland + SUE-C live show**
**Pylon Reenactment Society**
A live stage performance by Negativland in WE CAN REALLY FEEL LIKE WE’RE HERE accompanied by SUE-C's unique and immersive visuals.
About the live show: Legendary sound collage group Negativland and “real-time cinema” visual artist SUE-C collaborate to bring you their latest audio-visual performance about our minds, our realities, and the evolving forms of media and technology that orchestrate our perceptions as we head into our next election: WE CAN REALLY FEEL LIKE WE’RE HERE. Negativland performs with video designed and produced by SUE-C, who appears virtually.
“An urgent show by Negativland and artist SUE-C calls time on a tech dystopia that is as malevolent as it is stupid… to meet the terrifying contemporary moment… as the world slides incrementally into meltdown.”
–The Wire Magazine
“Negativland have made a rewarding career out of being prodigious consumers of media who then digest it and recontextualize it, emphasizing mediated reality’s crazy-making absurdity and the infinite malleability of perception and ‘truth.’”
–Dave Segal, The Stranger
“Negativland are proud subverters of culture, causing trouble while having fun.”
–NPR Tiny Desk Concert
**Pylon Reenactment Society**
It's easier to explain what Pylon Reenactment Society isn’t than what it actually is. It’s not a continuation or a reunion, because Vanessa is the only member in both groups. It’s neither a tribute act nor a cover band, although they do perform Pylon songs. Led by Vanessa Briscoe Hay of the legendary post-punk band Pylon, Pylon Reenactment Society also features Jason NeSmith and Kay Stanton (Supercluster, Casper & The Cookies) and Gregory Sanders (Casper & The Cookies). Their debut album ‘Magnet Factory’ and live performances have been met with critical acclaim. Uncut Magazine awarded the album an 8/10 rating, saying “Magnet Factory finds the quartet in scintillating form, shifting smartly between angular noise-pop and nervy punk-funk, topped with Hay’s spiky vocals… a terrific debut from American post-punk veterans.” The Associated Press said, “...Briscoe Hay remains a distinctive, boundary-defying songwriter… Amid the algorithm-driven din that now fills earbuds, ‘Magnet Factory’ sounds as fresh as Pylon first did…the band is an irresistible blend of simplicity and synchronicity, the music both edgy and therapeutic.” Rolling Stone Magazine noted of their performance at SXSW 2024 “…Pylon Reenactment Society dodges nostalgia partially because Pylon was hardwired for the future…” What started as a one-off project has grown in stature and power, winning over both long-time fans who thought they would never see this music performed again as well as young fans just discovering Pylon. The positive feedback has provided impetus to move forward with original, fresh material created in the spirit of Pylon.

**Outer Reaches is a music festival based in Kansas City that showcases the ‘out there,’ left-of-center, under-the-radar artists experimenting within and pushing boundaries in their respective genres. Regional acts and national and international touring acts are a part of the festival’s spirit, celebrating the variety of experimental music around the globe. There has always been a strong tie to music that would fit into the realm of psychedelic music, but the festival has since opened up to more genres to promote all adventurous and mind-expanding music.**
