Art, history, and the outdoors come together in this plein air class inspired by one of Anchorage’s classic neighborhood gathering spaces.
From its beginnings as a dry town during Prohibition through today’s craft brewery boom, Anchorage’s history of bars, breweries and social gathering spaces reflects stories of community, change and culture. During "Outdoor Painting Session: Darwin’s Theory," participants will explore stories connected to the city’s evolving bar and brewery culture with Anchorage Museum educators before joining local artist Don Kolstad to sketch and paint a scene inspired by one of Anchorage’s classic neighborhood bars, Darwin’s Theory.
Please dress for the weather, as the class will be held rain or shine. Open to ages 21+.
$80 material fee. Registration required.
This event is organized in conjunction with Everyday Anchorage: Duke Russell & Ward Wells, now on view on the fourth floor.
1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, Darwin's Theory, 426 G St.
