The only outdoor cinema of its kind in the UK; the Frontier Sapiens Film Festival showcases a selection of the world's best adventure, cultural and environmental films from around the globe.
Coming to Reading for thie first time ever, join us for an evening of captivating, thought-provoking short films featuring inspiring stories of human endeavour. Travel the globe with some of the world’s best filmmakers, and experience extraordinary human spirit and wild adventures on the big screen.
Get your friends together, grab your picnic, and prepare for an incredible evening of films under the stars!
THE 2024 FILM LINE-UP WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MAY 2024. BUT FOR AN IDEA OF WHAT TO EXPECT, TAKE A LOOK AT OUR 2023 FILM LINE-UP HERE.
⌚ Films start at 8:15pm (access to the Abbey Ruins from 7:45pm). A collection of short films over the course of the evening. Event ends no later than 10:45pm.
📍 Entry to the venue will be available through the Abbey Ruins gate on Abbot's Walk (close to the Abbey Cross landmark), but the gardens will close at dusk. If you are a late arrival and arrive after dusk, you will need to enter the venue through the bottom gate on Chestnut Walk.
🌙 Please note, if it is a particularly bright evening, the film start time may be delayed by up to 15 minutes.
🍿 Drinks and snacks will be available at the venue throughout. Food trucks and drink providers will be announced closer to the time.
🎬 There may be a small amount of swearing in some of the films. The films are recommended for 12+.
🔦 We encourage all attendees to bring their own torch / flashlight to use when exiting the venue.
🦮 With the exception of guide dogs, no dogs or other animals are allowed at the event.
☀️ The screening will continue come rain or come shine, so please dress accordingly! If unsafe weather is forecast (high winds / thunder and lightning), the event will be rescheduled or cancelled at the discretion of the event organiser. If cancelled, a full refund will be issued to all ticket buyers.
🪑 Ticket purchase does NOT include seating, but you are welcome to bring your own blankets, cushions or camping chairs to enjoy the show. Alternatively, you can reserve a deckchair at the time of ticket purchase.
🚗 Parking is not available at the venue, but various public parking is available in Reading town centre.
🎫 Please ensure you bring your e-ticket with you (on your phone or as a paper ticket). If you have purchased a concession ticket, please arrive with proof of eligibility.
