Out There Award Plus

The Out There Award Plus is here to give you intro skills to go wild camping responsibly.

The Out There Award Plus will provide you with two day’s volunteering with the Borders Forest Trust tied in with an introduction to wild camping. It's a chance for Out There Award graduates like yourself to put back in Scotland's outdoors and learn some more outdoor skills along the way.

It'll introduce you to the Ramblers community, bringing Award alumni and members from our young walking groups together from across Scotland. The Out There Award Plus will allow you to enjoy the physical and mental wellbeing benefits associated with being outdoors whilst building greater connections between you and the natural environment. You might even make some more mates along the way.

You must of completed the Out There Award which is for 18-26 year old's before applying for a ticket on the Out There Award Plus.

Dates 10am on Friday 16 May – 5pm Saturday 17 May

Location Borders Forest Trust - Corehead Site – near Moffat, Scottish Borders - Map Here

The OTA+ involves:

• A nights introduction to wild camping in a managed environment
• Up to 20 young people enjoying a collective wild camping experience
• 2 days of outdoor volunteering with the Borders Forest Trust team and learning about the great work they do - Here's of the volunteer work we get up to on the award+
• An intro into campcraft skills
• Practically learning about Scotland’s world class access rights and how to access the countryside responsibly.

When you've completed the Out There Award Plus you'll receive a certificate and some starter camping freebies to set you on your way to exploring Scotland responsibly and safely.

We want everybody to have the chance to learn the skills to camp responsibly, that's why we've make sure we can provide the specialist camping equipment to allow anyone to attend the Award Plus.

So if you haven't got all the camping equipment have no fear. We can lend you tents, stoves, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, cooking equipment and headtorches. Just select what you need to borrow on the sign up form.

There will be Ramblers Scotland and Borders Forest trust staff as well as Out There Award Plus volunteers along for the weekend. We'll be on hand to help out and teach you some new skills so sign up and pop along for a great free weekend.
