About this Event
Out of Office is back in Newcastle, and this time we are doing something a bit different.
For one night only, we are taking over Newcastle Building Society’s Monument branch after hours. Not a function room. Not the back of a bar. One of the most visible retail units in the city, right on Grainger Street, with the doors open for LGBTQ+ professionals and allies as part of Newcastle Pride Fringe.
*Yes, it is in a building society branch. No, this is not Ocean’s Eleven Goes LGBTQ+.
Don't even think it.
Out of Office is professional networking without the cringe. No forced fun, no name badges the size of coasters, no standing in a corner pretending to read the drinks menu. Just a hosted, relaxed evening for people who work in and around Newcastle and want proper conversation with a decent crowd.
We usually say we do not do speeches, because nobody comes to Out of Office to be talked at.
This time, we are bending the rule slightly.
There will be a short welcome from Newcastle Building Society’s Head of ED&I, and a few words from Phil Douglas, CEO of Newcastle Pride. They have earned the microphone. Then we will get back to the important business of drinks, introductions and conversations that do not begin with “so, what do you do?”
We will be at Newcastle Building Society’s Monument branch from 6pm to 7.30pm, then moving on to a nearby bar for anyone who wants to carry on.
Come on your own, come with colleagues, or come with friends. You do not need a pitch, a plan or a networking strategy. Just turn up, get a drink and join in.
