October is LGBTQ+ history month! Join us for an event celebrating LGBTQ+ history at Bain Capital, hosted by Equinix.
About this Event

It’s LGBTQ+ history month and Out in Tech has something special in store for you!

Join Out in Tech at the Bain Capital space at 450 Pacific Ave on October 9 from 5-8 pm for a mixer and lecture on LGBTQ+ history. This event is made possible thanks to the generous contributions of Equinix.

The lecture will be led by Shawn Sprockett, who is the founder of Unspeakable Vice, a volunteer-led history walking tour in North Beach and the Tenderloin. After the event, we will collectively head to a local historic gay bar, The Savoy Tivoli, for an informal mixer!

What to expect:

Doors open at Bain Capital: 5 pm

• Mixer at Bain Capital: 5-6 pm

• Lecture and Q&A: 6- 7 pm

• Mixer at Savoy Tivoli: 7 pm onwards

Bain Capital is located at 450 Pacific Ave, San Francisco. The Savoy Tivoli is located at 1434 Grant Ave. See you on 10/9!

Meet Your History Guide

Shawn Sprockett (he/him)

Founder, Unspeakable Vice

Shawn is an Adjunct Professor at the California College of Arts in the graduate Interaction Design program, where he teaches visual design and creative thinking. He started developing Unspeakable Vice, a volunteer-based queer history walking tour project, in 2018. The project explores lesser known stories of LGBTQ San Francisco, particularly the influence of People of Color and women in the development of queer culture and activism.
