About this Event
Come celebrate Etobicoke with us in this special collaboration with the Etobicoke Historical Society, featuring the Local Vocals pop-up choir and Etobian composers.
Artefacts on display will include a cannon ball from the War of 1812, so of course we'll play Tchaikovsky's thrilling 1812 Overture.
The jaunty Log Drivers Waltz , performed by Local Vocals, sets an upbeat tone that Etobian composer Gary Kulesha continues with his joyful Celebration Overture .
Did you know that world-famous pianist and composer Oscar Peterson was a Mimico resident? Hear his Hymn to Freedom, which inspired our full 'docu-concert' coming February 1.
We also perform Mozart’s Paris Symphony (No. 31) which was captivating Europe when Etobicoke was known as Adobigok, home to the Mississaugas of the New Credit Nation.
Celebration Overture - Gary Kulesha
Hymn to Freedom - Oscar Peterson
Symphony 31 'Paris' - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
1812 Overture Op. 49 - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
