Our Bodies Remember: An Ode To the Milk, The Memory And The Fed Futures
About this Event
This gathering welcomes those who are currently breastfeeding, have breastfed, are pregnant and planning to breastfeed, partners, birthworkers, elders, and anyone committed to supporting Black families. Through story and shared wisdom, we'll celebrate the strength of our communities while imagining more supported futures for Black families.
Black Breastfeeding Week is an opportunity to honor the history, resilience, and wisdom of Black families while acknowledging the systemic barriers that shape breastfeeding experiences today.
Join us for an evening of remembrance, kinship, and connection. Together, we'll journey through a visual timeline exploring the history of Black breastfeeding and reflect on how our collective past continues to shape the present.
Together, we'll be centering:
- Storytelling and listening circles
- A visual journey through the history of Black breastfeeding
- Local resources, support, and community connections
We'll be taking care of you, too.
- Light snacks and refreshments provided
- Complimentary on-site child watch available
