Jim Birtch, Culture and Belief in our Mission: How we'll make Ottawa Sustainable.
Most of you know Jim. He studied engineering, computers and geography; researched coking coals and aerial crop surveys; reviewed programs for federal governments. He gave social support to the homeless and refugees. Parks Canada hired him for community policy. He wrote Parks Canada’s first sustainability development strategy and coordinated Canada’s biosphere reserves for 23 years.Jim created the Biosphere Eco-City model, led OBEC for 10 years and now chairs Biosphere Ecocities Canada.
