Tsuki no En (月の縁) – Moonlit Connections
Inspired by the Japanese concept of en (縁), the meaningful connections that bring people together, this year’s Otsukimi gathers guests beneath the autumn moon at the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix.
The evening brings together traditional music, dance, art, and seasonal experiences in the garden after dark. Taiko drums, shakuhachi, shamisen, and bamboo flute accompany traditional Japanese dance. A sake lecture, ikebana displays and a live demonstration, seasonal calligraphy scrolls, and a bamboo art installation with candlelight fill the grounds. The Tea House exhibit and Tea Garden (Roji) experience are available for an additional fee.
