This Love Is For You’.

NOOTE: Concert starts at 20:00
Comprised of some of Denmark’s most prominent young musicians, Copenhagen’s groundbreaking neo-jazz quintet OTOOTO describes their innovative fusion of jazz tradition and modern indie-pop as “Homeshake meets the Jazz Messengers.” Their third studio album, 2nd Quake, is set for release on November 8 via April Records.
OTOOTO—featuring Jonas Due (trumpet and flugelhorn), Hannes Bennich (alto saxophone and flute), Calle Brickman (keys), Andreas Svendsen (drums and percussion), and Matthias Petri (bass)—has been a fixture on both the Danish and international jazz scenes since their 2021 debut album, This Love Is For You.
Their new release marks a bold new chapter in their journey, reflecting a mature artistic vision that promises to solidify their place in contemporary Scandinavian jazz. Drawing inspiration from ’70s rock, European church music, and the pioneering sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis, the five musicians—led by trumpeter Jonas Due—describe their sound as “a roaring sea of analog synths and velvety horns.”
The album, featuring eight meticulously crafted original compositions, balances strikingly memorable melodies with intricate orchestration, an ever-present sense of groove, rich textures, and fearless, lyrical improvisation. A collaboration with electronic producer Sofie Birch, 2nd Quake is an electro-organic sonic exploration that merges acoustic instrumental timbres with electronic manipulation—driven by the iconic Juno-106 synth and elevated by grand, jazz-inspired musicianship.
