COURSE OBJECTIVES
Dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and other members of the dental team will update their compliance knowledge based on OSHA, CDC and HIPAA requirements by attending this course. The format includes lectures, audience participation, fabulous prizes, learning and laughter.
Participants will:
• Understand current OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and CDC infection control directives
• Identify necessary safeguards for the transmission, management and storage of data
• Learn about proper personal protective equipment, disinfection, sharps disposal, needlestick management, sterilization, aerosolization control and instrument handling
• Learn a little HIPAA (not HIPPO) humor!
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Recognize HIPAA compliance requirements for dental offices
• Identify patient and employee safety hazard(s) in dentistry and learn how to correct them
• Know the proper behaviors necessary to maintain patient confidentiality

Nan Dreves of La Crosse, Wisconsin, is an enthusiastic and comprehensive speaker and consultant specializing in dental occupational health, compliance, safety and practice management topics. She graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, in dental hygiene, and then received her MBA from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is credentialed by OSAP, is a Certified OSHA Safety Instructor, and is an examiner for CDCA-WREB-CITA ADEX Dental and Dental Hygiene Licensing Exams.
