Ortho-Bionomy® Basics: Focus on the Spine

April 23, 2022 9am-6pm &

April 24, 2022 9am-6pm

Ortho-Bionomy originated in the early 1970’s, founded by British-trained osteopath Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, DO who coined the name Ortho-Bionomy meaning a corrective application of the natural laws of life. Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle non-force approach that uses a range of methods that include positioning, movement and isometric/isotonic engagement to address tension patterns and imbalances. Ortho-Bionomy happens from the inside out by accessing the person’s innate self-corrective responses.

This two day Focus on the Spine class presents the history and principles of Ortho-Bionomy and basic release techniques for the neck, thoracic spine, ribs, sternum, lumbar spine, psoas, sacrum and pelvis. Focus includes basic anatomy and functions of the joints, palpatory sensitivity, presence, grounding and communication skills.

During practice students learn to integrate their practice partner’s felt experience with their own observations and assessments. Students benefit from exchanging with different practice partners during the class to gain understanding of how the techniques are fine tuned for different individuals.

Ortho-Bionomy is easy on the therapist’s body as well as the client’s!

No pre-requisite.
